(V) Unlike other snacks such as biscuits, raw apples contain almost zero fat and cholesterol.
4. 4 (I)Americans often plan social gatherings on short notice, so don't be surprised if you get invited to someone's home or to see a movie or baseball game without much warning. (II) At a party, don't be surprised if you are asked what you do for a living. (III) If the time is convenient for you, by all means accept their invitation. (IV) But if you are busy, do not be afraid to decline the invitation, perhaps suggesting a time that would be better. (V) Your host will not be insulted.

(III) It left an indelible scar on American society, causing millions of people to languish in joblessness, and starvation. (IV) People from the middle class were considered depression proof due to their professions. (V) Even today, nearly every survivor of the Great Depression can still recall the feelings of hunger and desperation.
6. 6 (I) Until the twentieth century, methods of treating disease were rooted in local customs.(II) The medicine practiced in one area was often quite different from medicine elsewhere. In rural areas people combined local folk custom with information gleaned from medical dictionaries to treat illnesses. (IV) Many discoveries made in the 19th century led to great advances in surgical methods. (V) Similarly, doctors, not yet an elite professional group, were usually trained through a combination of schooling and apprenticeship.
