1. 1 (I) Most people probably think of salt as simply that white granular food seasoning found in a saltshaker. (II) A lifetime of eating too much salt is putting Americans' lives in jeopardy. (III) It is that, surely, but it is far more. (IV) It is an essential element in the diet of not only humans but of animals, and even of many plants. (V) It is also one of the most effective and most widely used of all food preservatives and the oldest as well.

(V) CAT scanners, a special X-ray machine, however, can give a three- dimensional view of all the organs.
4. 4 (I)In every society, one has to learn the customs, attitudes and values of this social group or culture. (II) It is important that you make them as entertaining and rewarding as you possibly can. (III) This learning process is called socialization. (IV) It is important for the development of every individual. (V) This development is most strongly enforced by family, school and continues throughout an individual's lifetime.
5. 5 (I) Many parents have questions about children and money. (II) For example, how do children learn about managing money? (III) That is the way that a child learns the concept of scarcity. (IV) Children learn about money from those around them. (V) For instance, they watch their parents spend money and learn from them.
6. 6 (I) Nowadays a number of NASA officials are concerned about the growing problem of space garbage. (II) They burn up harmlessly in the Earth's atmosphere. (III) This trash is a byproduct of old satellites and upper storage units left in orbit from previous flights. (IV) It causes a great danger to future flights due to its high speed while orbiting the earth. (V) This is why NASA is trying to find a way to remove the trash inexpensively from the space.
